Some great features, but not the best stroller, May 12, 2011

Every stroller has its pros and cons, the Pliko Switch being no exception. I'm writing this review after having this stroller (the 2010 version) for a full year, and using it as an infant and toddler stroller.

Pros:
**I liked this stroller as an infant stroller. The peg perego primo viaggio car seat snaps on really securely - no extra snaps, straps, or components needed.
**As an infant seat stroller, the frame folds up easily, somewhat compactly, and can stand upright on its own.
**Basket does hold alot (although it's difficult to access)
**The infant seat and toddler seat can snap on forward or rear facing, which is wonderful
**The handles can be extended or shortened very easily, which is great when my husband and I switch off pushing it
**The toddler seat reclines to 180 degrees (or near that)
**The toddler snack tray is included in the price
**You can hang a pretty heavy diaper bag off the handles and it doesn't get in your way or tip the stroller over

Cons:
**The worst thing about this stroller is how it handles. Ours is like an out-of-alignment car - it always seems to veer to the right. I'm constantly running into things because it's almost impossible to control. We've subsequently purchased a Baby Jogger and it handles SO MUCH BETTER. This is my primary annoyance with this stroller and the reason that I only gave it 3 stars. If the stroller handled better, it would be the perfect stroller.
**Impossible to steer with one hand
**REALLY difficult to fold with the toddler seat attached
**The toddler seat recline mechanism is somewhat sticky. It always seems to recline the left half of the seat only
**The parent cup holder is pathetic, and it barely attaches to the frame. Ours got lost in transit somewhere when it snagged on something without us realizing it. You can't just order a generic replacement because they hinder the folding mechanism. I ordered a replacement from peg perego for $35 (!) that still didn't fit properly on the frame.

The bottom line:
It works well as an infant stroller, but the $60 snap-n-go works just as well, has a better basket and cupholder, and is easier to fold! As the mother of a toddler, I would not take this stroller anywhere that I had to push for significant periods of time or over any rough terrain, because it's just takes too much effort to push.

One last thing. We got the Java color, because I wanted something neutral. It's very boring. I wish I would've purchased a flashier color. AND because you never use the stroller seat and the infant seat at the same time, they don't need to be the same color.

I like this stroller, but I don't love it.

Pros:
-You can remove the stroller seat completely and snap the car seat in. Very convenient while baby is still using infant car seat, and removing the seat makes the stroller part much lighter and easier to fold.
-You can have the seat or car seat facing either way, which (I think) my son enjoys.
-Umbrella fold makes it fairly easy to maneuver when folded up, and it can stand upright when folded.
-Basket is a good size. True there are bars in the way, but if you pull the side of the basket, it's pretty easy to get things in and out.
-Seat can recline fully so you can put an infant in it.
-Nice fabric, comfy seat.
-There's a little platform for toddlers to stand on. I only have one child, but if I have another in the future I think this would come in handy.

Cons:
-The footprint is pretty large so it's cumbersome getting around things.
-Does not steer well. I find myself knocking into things all the time. The front wheels don't turn very well.
-The stroller with the seat attached is QUITE heavy (probably close to 25 lbs?). If I had known this stroller would be so heavy, I probably would've purchased the Pliko P3 or the UppaBaby Vista instead.
-The stroller with the seat attached is also much more difficult to fold (the seat doesn't fold as easily as the frame itself, which is what I've been using since my son is still in the infant car seat). The folding mechanism itself is simple; it's just it's hard to do.

Overall, it isn't a bad stroller, but if I were to do it all over again, I probably wouldn't buy this stroller. But it isn't awful enough that I would actually toss this one and get a new one. I would recommend using a Snap-n-go with an infant seat, then purchasing an umbrella stroller.

I bought this stroller because I wanted a stroller that can be adjustable for a newborn and adjust to a toddler. This stroller does the job. It can be switched to face you or face outwards which not many strollers can do.I like the idea when I am pushing the stroller , the baby is facing me.
The seat can recline to a full bassinet style which is perfect for a newborn. The seat can fully become detached from the stroller . The wheels glide perfect and is easy to push ..no complaints. I bought this stroller at Babies R Us but wanted to leave a review how great this stroller is.A t first glance the stroller did not stand out to me till a sales person from Babies R Us showed me how the stroller seat flips and can fully lounge.The basket under the stroller has a decent amount of storage for bags and personal items.
I was so impressed I bought it right away. Had I known Amazon had this stroller I would have bought it from them because Amazons price is much cheaper then Babies R Us. The company who makes this stroller should put pictures of the different positions this stroller can do ... This stroller is very easy to fold and unfold and does not take up to much room in the trunk of a car.

The only reason I give this stroller 2 stars (instead of 1) is because I love that the larger seat clicks out to make room for the car seat and that either one (the large seat or the car seat) can face either forward or back. For the price (when we bought this a year ago), this was the only rear-facing stroller (that I'm aware of). So, I love it for that reason ONLY.

Otherwise, I HATE hate hate it and have a pit in my stomach just knowing I threw my money out the window on this thing. We simply can't afford to buy another stroller ... this one was plenty expensive and we just have to stick with it until it breaks down completely.

I'm not sure what people mean by saying this stroller folds easily and stores compactly. Maybe it folds easier and stores more compactly than a hippopotamus would? I'm sure that's true and I'm willing to stand by anyone's assertion that this stroller is, in fact, easier to fold and store than a hippo. BUT, I've had this stroller for almost a year and it has only become not-super-hard to fold because of months of practice. Months of practice have not, however, made the stroller more compact. I will say that it does fit into my trunk (and we've got a hybrid sedan, which as a very very small trunk), but the stroller and groceries will not fit (not easily, anyway) into the trunk at the same time.

Why in the world would any company design a stroller that is so hard to fold (impossible to do holding a baby, that's for dang sure) or that, if kept in the car, would probably keep any one from getting hired by the local mafia? I mean, wasn't this thing designed in Italy where people drive small cars and belong to the mafia?! Strollers need to be easy to fold and store to make room in the trunk for additional items and a quick getaway!

What I love about this system:

1. I can watch my baby (and she, me) while we go for walks
2. I can block the wind for my baby while we walk with the wind, and the stroller can block the wind when we walk against it.
3. The main seat removes to make way for the car seat.

What I hate about this system:

10. The car seat handle is hard to move from one position to another (the side buttons seems hard to push and they catch/get stuck)
9. The stroller creaks and rattles on the smoothest of surfaces.
8. The stroller takes up a lot of space even when folded (and starts to open on its own if you don't handle it carefully with both hands)
7. The stroller is hard to fold (impossible with a baby in hand).
6. The stroller and car seat are very heavy (which I knew going into it, but still ...)
5. The stroller is hard to maneuver
4. The stroller is not compatible with the pliko P3 accessories available at the time I bought it (like the rain-shield that I bought last year which was only advertised as a Pliko rain cover -- there's a universal rain shield available this year).
3. The basket beneath the stroller is VERY small compared to what I would expect...
2. But even if the basket could hold every unnecessary item I'd like to bring along with me, the effing crossbars that cover it (the bars that allow the stroller to fold, I guess) make it hard to put anything larger than a loaf of bread into the basket. Granted, you could fit 6 loaves of bread in the basket, but not all at once. And since I had hoped to use this thing as a stroller AND grocery cart at the farmer's market on Saturdays, I know how many groceries fit into the basket. HARDLY ANY.
1. The 5-point harness for the car seat is really hard to tighten over my daughter. The straps seem to get stuck behind the car seat, where they all meet up somewhere. I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but it can be hard to loosen the straps after a car ride and it is almost always difficult for me to get the straps pulled down to where I feel they are tight enough. This is thing-I-hate-#1 because it's not only a massive pain in my pretty big behind, but it's a safety issue for the #1 person in my life.
In the end, after a year of using this thing, I can say that I regret every penny I spent on it and that I hate it way more than I love it.

If you must buy it, do so at your own risk. It looks cute and does "switch" around nicely, but those are its two only pluses.

Have I mentioned that I hate this stroller system?

This carseat is not for the weak! It is VERY heavy even without baby inside. But boy do I feel safe with my little boy inside it. The carseat is extremely easy to take in/out of the base in the car and also in/out of the stroller. The stroller is so light I can pick it up with one hand (and I'm a petite woman). We always get compliments on how cool the stroller looks, and I'm always happy to tell everyone how much we love it! Can't wait to use it for our future children.

As a first time mom I did all the research I could to find the perfect stroller!! living in NY almost every mom has a Bugaboo so I wanted something different, something with great colors & manageable (lightweight) & Multi uses, so I tried this! & I must say it is the WORST decision I made! I've had it 3 months & it squeaks SO LOUD it's embarrassing, its rickety, & seems un sturdy, the wheels lock & it's SOO tough 2 maneuver! The pictures & illustrations are gorgeous but this stroller SUCKS!! I have to buy another one already & my ll guy is only 3 months! Save your money here & try something else! The car seat is sturdy & the swithc option is a plus but it is entirely too heavy.. I would say with all the other options available with travel system try another! plus Peg Perego's customer service is pretty awful.. SO I think I'll try a new retailer all together.

I'll be honest: I bought this car seat because I liked the way it looked. Big mistake... I have the baby Jogger city mini and was looking for a car seat that I could snap on. I was debating between the Cybex, Graco and Maxi cozy. The maxi cozy was more expensive and the Graco's they had at the store were ugly. My sister has the Graco and so I kept comparing. The cybex is much smaller then the Graco and it was already small for my daughter at 10 months. There are only 3 saftey points verses 5 saftey points the Graco has. When my daughter was a new born she pooped on it, and I hand washed the covering as instructed, and still some of the pattern came off. And the sun shade is just crap, it's poorly made and does not protect from the sun from both directions. Bottem line- buy something else...

This car seat is extremely well designed - convenient to install and to carry (and it's compatible with the maxi-cosi stroller adaptors, so fit our stroller easily). At a car seat installation session we went to, the guys working there said of the thousands of car seat fittings they've done, the Aton is their new favorite and by far the easiest to install. Despite being suitable for infants up to 32 pounds, the seat is fairly light and quite convenient to carry, and is compact enough to fit well into smaller cars.

Well, I ordered and received my Britax Frontier 85 2011 model! VERY easy to install and fit perfectly into our vehicle. I was very pleased with the Rounda bout also. I have the car seat in Cowmooflage! I love that it's a 5 pt. harness untill 85lbs. then I will probably order the next step up car seat..but I have YEARS from now untill then!~ lol I'm enjoying it. I know people complained that it was to bulky and heavy..well I mean I would RATHER it be that way? I never will understand how some parents want cheap, light car seats just b/c it's easier to tote around. To me I love the bulkiness and heaviness. Trust me you can truly see the work and craftmanship put into your car seats. The diffference is very noticable.

Best seat to install!!!! Better then my Britax, January 5, 2011

I got this after trying and failing to install 2 other seats. This one is AMAZINGLY easy to install in the back of my Honda Odyssey. I got this for the high crash test ratings. The color was the choice of my 2 year old daughter of course. Only con is that I do not like the sticker on the harness strap that has big 65lbs. on it (reminding you to stop using at 65lbs for the internal harness). But I love the color, and everything else. This is better then my both my Britax seats! AND it got higher crash test ratings!
